Mico Villaran, a 17-year-old hurdler from Western Visayas, set a new national junior record in the 110-meter hurdles at the Palarong Pambansa held in Laoag City. His time of 14.0 seconds beat the previous record of 14.28 set by Francis Medina in 2015. Villaran also achieved a Palaro record in the 400-meter hurdles.
